Case Study: Giving Community Voices a Platform – Thetford Voices

Client Overview
Thetford Voices is a community music initiative providing free opportunities for children and young people in Thetford to sing, perform, and build confidence through music.

With accessibility at its heart, Thetford Voices removes financial barriers to participation, ensuring that children can get involved regardless of their circumstances. The project is powered by community spirit, volunteers, supporters, and donors who believe in the impact that music can have on young people.

The Challenge
For community organisations, telling their story can be just as important as delivering the work itself.
Thetford Voices needed authentic photography that could help communicate the energy, inclusivity, and impact of the project to donors, supporters, families, and the wider community. The challenge wasn't simply to take photographs. It was to capture the people and moments that demonstrate why supporting community music matters.

Our Approach
Simply IC was invited to spend the weekend with Thetford Voices to support the project on the ground. We were commissioned to capture photography for use in donor communications and outreach.
We approached the photography as a marketing tool rather than simply documentation.
By capturing children participating, performing, learning, and connecting with one another, we created a visual record that could help tell the bigger story: this is what community investment looks like in practice.

The resulting images provide Thetford Voices with authentic content that can be used across donor communications, social media, fundraising, publicity, and future outreach.

Marketing That Gives Back

At Simply IC, we firmly believe that every organisation deserves access to high-quality marketing, regardless of its size or budget. Throughout July, we offered free marketing consultations to organisations and individuals who wanted advice, support, or simply a fresh perspective on their marketing. Our time with Thetford Voices was a natural extension of that ethos. Sometimes marketing means developing a full strategy or launching a campaign. Sometimes it means being there, rolling up your sleeves, picking up a camera, and helping a brilliant community organisation show the world what it does.

Results
Authentic photography created for donor and outreach purposes. A library of visual content that can support future fundraising and communications. Stronger opportunities to communicate the real-world impact of supporting Thetford Voices. Greater visibility for a free, community-led initiative

Conclusion
Our work with Thetford Voices demonstrates that marketing doesn't always need to be complicated.
Sometimes, it's about capturing the right people, telling the right story, and making sure that story reaches the people who can help it grow.

At Simply IC, we're proud to support organisations doing meaningful work in their communities - whether that's through strategic marketing, creative content, or simply showing up and getting stuck in.
Because great marketing shouldn't be a privilege reserved for organisations with big budgets.
